Is it just me or...
do PB&J sandwiches taste SO much better smushed? So much better in fact, that I throw it into the bottom of my bag for work in the morning so it can get that much more mushed before lunch time and then smash it some more before eating it. MMMM so good!

Just in case you're in a bad mood
Robert showed me this website (don't worry, there's no sound for those of you browsing at the office) today and I think it's HILARIOUS. I apologize in advance to those of you who read this who might be offended. But it was too good to pass up without sharing!
I'm pretty sure it's a legit business operation.

the 31
So usually in morning, Patrick and I take the 31bx which is basically an express bus full of commuters. Occasionally, like this morning, we miss the BX and have to take the regular 31. Lets just say that the crowd on the 31 is slightly different than the crowd on the 31BX. For example, this morning: The guy sitting next to us leans down, rips off the top part of his sock, blows his nose into it and then proceeds to put it in his pocket. Then, he loudly guffaws (yes that is how you spell it) at the name of some store, makes a random (and very loud) comment to the guy sitting next to him, and proclaims to us all "I'm outta here". He then develops a Boston accent and tells everyone to move 'attamaway' and asks the door to "Open Sesame". When he gets off he just stares at all of us on the bus instead of going on his way. Crazy!!
Needless to say, We prefer the BX.

I'm Famous!

Well....not exactly. But we did win Agency of the Year from Ad Age (oh yeah, and Ad Week too)
Some of you may have seen the article here and might have seen this picture towards the bottom. I'm the one in a grey shirt on the right side next to the girl in the white coat. No big deal. You can say you knew me when...

A taste of what's to come

Oh yeah, we went to Tahoe
So my family doesn't "do" snow. Both my parents hate it and never really took us to it as children. That said, I haven't always had the best snow experiences. Below a short recap of the snow and me:
1. When I was about 8 My family rented a cabin for the week one year. It was great--until we got snowed in.
2. When I was 13 We went to Italy to visit my cousins and I took a ski lesson at the Italian Alps. Although my instructor's name was indeed Fabio, good looks couldn't get my uncoordinated little body to understand how exactly to ski.
3. When I was 15 I went snowmobiling with my all the boy scouts in my ward. Of course I had a great time, I was 15.
4. Freshman year my friend Jensen gave me a snowboarding lesson. He also convinced me to buy fancy ski pants and goggles at the Park City shops. Oh, freshman stupidity.
5. I'm lumping all sledding adventures into one category. Now THAT I like.
6. I went snowmobiling a couple times with my roommates thanks to Kevin. One of those times included James proposing to Mere. Very successful trip!
7. I went skiing at Park City with my then boyfriend Peter. I literally spent the entire day holding on to him for dear life. I think that's part of the reason we broke up.
8. My dad, Lex, and I decided to go to Arrowhead for a day of skiing over Christmas break. We thought Christmas break always equaled snow in the mountains. We didn't realize that isn't necessarily true until we got there 3 hours later...
Cue Tahoe this past weekend: We went up with some of our new favorite friends in SF. In preparation, I bought snow cables in the city and had the Firestone guy show me how to put them on. I swear he told me to put them on the front tires (which didn't really make sense to me but who's the expert here?).
After dropping our friends off at the slopes for the day (that's why I like Patrick...we'd both rather not ski/snowboard) our friend Jared helped us put the chains on the tires. As we pulled away from the resort we started hearing a terrible noise. At first we thought it was "normal" since we hadn't ever driven with chains before. It got so bad that we could barely hear each other yelling over the sound. At that point we knew something was very wrong so we pulled over as soon as there was a safe place to do so. Since the cables were on the wrong tires, we got stuck in the snow and couldn't get out.
Luckily, a CalTrans guy happened to be driving by at that exact moment and helped pull us out of the snow and replace the cables on the correct tires. Then he had to push our car all the way up to the top of the road because we were fishtailing so badly. After that we were kind of done for the day so we took a nap and went out to lunch (typical Saturday activities wherever we are).
Even though we had the snow issues and we didn't do any snow sports, we had a great time (as you can see from the pictures I'll post when I get home today). We'll definitely go again (if we're invited) and maybe we'll do some snowmobiling. That's up our alley

Side Note
You know that picture two posts below this one? The other day my co-worker saw that picture at my desk and asked if the man next to me was my husband. Good thing he is my 30-something year old boss.

SO lame
I know. But look at how much I've gotten accomplished since it became 2008:
Organized my pantry
Cleared off my office desk
Finished all the Thank You notes
Played some board games with our new friends
Started Flossing again
Oh, and I've started a Spin class. Carrie, you'll be proud :)
It might not seem like a lot to you, but I'm pretty dang proud of myself :)

Frosty the Snowman
I hate that song. I LOVE Christmas music, but that song makes me want to puke. I didn't know I hated it so much until I just listened to it. Bleh. Bring on the Mariah Carey. Now THAT'S good Christmas music.

Bedding awesome?
You know that things have really changed when you're a 26 yr old guy and you're excited about purchasing a new bed spread, sheets, and what have yous. Alas, I am pumped about the new arrangement on the bed. I had to endure a few months of a girly pink and green set up that included flowers and the occasional stuffed animal. Not anymore! We've upgraded and I feel much better about allowing a visitor to see where I slumber.
Christmas in the City
Broadway in SF?
We went to see Jersey Boys with our friends the Larsens (no, we're not related, it's just a strange coincidence!) on Tuesday night. It's the story of Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons. (For those of you who don't know who they are, just remember the songs like "Big Girls Don't Cry" or "Walk like a Man" and that's them!) We had wanted to see it in NYC but there were too many shows to see and not enough time to see them all. Plus, Patrick didn't decided that he loved musicals until the end of our internships. Anyways, so we went to the show and had a really great time! I have to warn you that there is a good deal of swearing, but if you can tune it out (like we've been practicing ever since we moved out of Utah and into the "real" world) it's really fun, especially the music. I've been humming 50's tunes ever since...hmm...maybe that wasn't such a good pick after all :) And it was SO fun to go on a double date--we hadn't been on one in ages!
The Joys of Full Coverage Insurance
Since I can remember, I've had extremely dry eyes. (hence the reason I wear glasses almost every day) But, we never had eye insurance growing up so I was limited to one check-up a year and glasses/contacts on a need-only basis. That also meant Costco or Lenscrafters eye doctors. Now, don't get me wrong--they do their job just fine, but every time I would complain about my dry eyes, they simply ignored it or gave me a quick fix solution. They were there to give me a prescription, not to help me out. Starting my new job meant free vision insurance and a real honest-to-goodness optometrist! On my first visit, I already could tell the difference--this guy actually cared about me! He took my dry eye symptoms seriously and came up with a series of tests to help get my problem fixed. Last visit, they tested my tear production. The average adult has a tear production of 10. I have a tear production of 1. It's all starting to make sense, I haven't been making this up. So the doctor inserted little plugs into my tear ducts to make my tears stay in my eyes longer instead of dissolving so quickly. Although I was pretty skeptical at first, it was absolutely painless and absolutely miraculous! I couldn't remember the last time I had taken my contacts out and not had my eyes hurt so bad that I had to immediately go to bed. Now, I'm dry-eye pain free! I LOVE it! So for all you dry-eye sufferers, ask your eye doctor for some plugs. They're amazing!
