Team Christmas Dinner

There's nothing quite like the Tonga Room at the Fairmont hotel. With a thunderstorm every 30 minutes, complimentary lei's and overpriced decent "Asian Fusion" cuisine and cocktails (Virgin Passion fruit Margarita for me please!) it was quite the evening.

Not sure if I'll ever need to go back, but I sure am glad I went! Especially when the photographer came around with this great pic and my own little picture on a book of matches. Classic.

Mere's BFA

*Photo Stolen from Mere

Last weekend I flew to Utah to attend the Opening (Insert Gala/Ceremony/Festivities as you deem appropriate) of Meredith Jones Hendrick's final show. Mere and I have been friends since freshman year.(I was going to upload freshman year pics but am too lazy to pull out the external hard drive right now)

We started the weekend off right by hitting up the Park City outlets where we definitely purchased matching dresses. Too bad we never got a twin pic.

That night, we went to her opening in the HFAC (up until Jan 11th. If you're in Provo, I highly, HIGHLY recommend attending). I have to say, I never doubted Mere's abilities and I think she's absolutely incredible, but this takes the cake. What an amazing final show. I'm so proud of her and everything she's done. (Plus, I'm nosy, so it was awesome to get to read a hundred personal letters and not get in trouble for snooping!)

*Photo Stolen from Becca

I know everyone wants to buy one of her gorgeous monoprints, but here's hoping I'm one of the first in line :) Have I dropped enough hints yet? haha.

I love you, Mere! WELL worth the trip!

Just a few More

Breakin' in the Party Dress

Oh yes. The infamous party dress. I LOOOVVEEE my party dress. And I got to wear it TWICE last week. When you calculate the CPW (cost per wear) it's already well on it's way to being justified :)

Plus, I got some sexy shoes to go with. There's no rule saying just because you're an old married lady you can't be a little sexy, right? The girls in SLC might say I was a little TOO sexy, but who's judging? Back off.

First thing's first. PSG Holiday Party. Quite a night full of dancing, eating, and chatting. I think most people dread their holiday parties, but not me. I love mine. Two years in a row now and I'm already looking forward to next year's! I think it helps that everyone is wasted and partying like crazy so I fit right in (minus the wasted partying part). The only bad part was the fact that numerous people commented on how they didn't recognize me and how GOOD I looked. I think it was supposed to be a compliment, but I was a little offended. You mean I don't look this good every day?! I had no idea I was such a wreck at work. So I owe Morgan a huge thank-you for helping me spice things up. (Seriously. I need you to teach me how to do this more often!)

Anyways. I didn't bring my own camera, but I have stolen proof of the party from my dear coworkers/friends. Not that any of you know them and all you really care about is checking ME out, so whatev. I'm waiting on a few choice selects to share with you, but these will do for now.
To help out those who detest long posts (Lisa), I'll separate out the Utah post.

Enlighten me

Am I the only person who likes lots of light on all the time? I go into a room and I want everything bright. All the lights on. Double lights in the bathroom, all the lights in the living room. Is that normal? I'm starting to think it's not. Because every time I'm with my family-in-law, they turn all the lights off except one. And then I'm sitting in the dusk (?) confused. Why don't you want it BRIGHT?!

PS: This is in no way an intentional call-out at the Larsen clan. I'm simply curious as to everyone's habits.

PPS: PSG Holiday Party, Correspondance Project, and Holid8 pics coming shortly. I'm having red-eye issues.

SHHH...

I definitely started my Christmas music two days early this year. I have a VERY strict rule that Christmas music begins the day after Thanksgiving and is in FULL effect until Christmas Day when I am cut off again for another year. But, as I was baking (that turned out as NASTY Soup pie instead of the normal pecan pie I make EVERY SINGLE YEAR. What happened??) on Wednesday in preparation for Thanksgiving, I couldn't help myself.

Now, just picture, The Larsens dancing around to Mariah Carey's "All I want for Christmas is You" over and over again. It's times like these that I know I really scored. How many husbands would do that??

I LOOOOVVEEE Christmas Music. And I REALLY love that song. I don't care what any of you say. I won't change my mind!

For more appealing music, also check out "Maybe this Christmas". It's the best Christmas mix of all time. (Okay, maybe not all time, but definitely right now). Love it!

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you all had a fab Thanksgiving. Like usual, we brought a camera with us to Bakersfield, but forgot to charge it. Yet again another fun family weekend with no evidence. I promise, we had a blast and I LOVED Twilight. Can't wait to see it again!

*And apparently I'm in some sort of blogger funk. I can't write, I can't spell, and I can't think of anything to write about. :(

Fleshy Beard

Yes it is true. The other night I turned on the tube, checked out what we hadn't watched on the DVR, and chose to watch...The Hills. I can't get enough of the show's formula of:

lame dialogue - cut to overhead of LA with cool music - really short lame dialogue - cut to overhead of nighttime LA with so so music - lame dialogue.

I love seeing what Spencer and his freaky facial hair will do next. He's a train wreck.

Grr....

There's a very good reason I'm never going to be super skinny. That is because I continue to eat Thai fried rice for lunch, split a slice and dog at Costco and eat entire Ghiradelli Sundays without sharing.

What am I going to do with myself??

You can make your own assumptions...

...last night as I was reheating food for my dinner, I definitely heard a specific theme song come on the TV. Oh yes, Patrick had personally selected "that" show to watch without ANY persuading from me. While I won't tell you what show it was, I will tell you that I was completely shocked.

He's comin' around. YESSSSSSSSS

Jealous?

I'm not one to brag, but it's hard not to today.

We had the best day ever. Shopping all day with my dad and Patrick

Then the Ducks game with them and my Grandma.

SO fun.

Best Part? Finding the PERFECT Christmas Party dress. I LOVE Calypso. (Ok, maybe hanging out with my family all day was the best part, but this was definitely a close second.)

In case you were wondering...

I would LOVE these as a Christmas Present. Yes, I know they're overpriced and overseas but that's what Christmas is all about, right? Impracticality :)

Gorgeous. And I've been looking for pretty coasters for forever. Wait a minute...don't you think Lisa Corcoran could make something like these with the Elison Machine?? Hmmmmmm.....

To be honest. I'd also like the throw blanket, the table centre piece, and any of the rugs. But I'd be happy with the coasters :)

Don't worry, I'll post some more realistic (and unrealistic) "Christmas Wishes" in the upcoming months to help give you all some ideas. :) I know, I know, I'm SO thoughtful. ;)

Happy Halloween!

I'm a big fan of any reason to celebrate, but for some reason, this year I wasn't very excited to dress up for Halloween. That quickly changed once Patrick and I got the great idea to dress up as John McCain and Sarah Palin.

Now, regarldess of your political affiliation, I'm sure you can appreciate our impressive (and thrifty!) costumes. Note, my outfit did NOT cost $150,000, nor is it from Neimans or Saks. And yes, that is baby powder in Patrick's hair (it's not that grey just yet).

We also found some awesome Maverick buttons online to complete the outfit.

Our friends the Bellisarios and the Woolwine's threw a great Party friday night. There were lots of interesting costumes roaming around...

Oh, and feel free to drop by any of your leftover candy at our apt :) hehe

We're off to Laguna again this weekend to hang out with my parents! We're really excited. Especially because we get to go to a Ducks game. I LOVE hockey!!

Nov. 4th

Hate me all you want.

I'm an apathetic Independent* who is SICK AND TIRED of the Election.

That said, I already voted for President, one proposition, and to get rid of Nancy Peloski so you can go back to loving me Mommy and Daddy.

Robert posted this on FB today. I thought it was pretty cool, mostly because it's the first political thing I've seen that isn't a bunch of biased crap. And I mostly think it isn't biased because I can't understand what they're saying. So maybe it is. And maybe I'm being subliminally swayed. But I already voted so it's too late to sway me!

Nov. 5th can't come any sooner for me! Everyone I know is counting down until the Election...I'm counting down until it's OVER.

And no, this is not the time for you all to swarm my comment box with reasons why I should be Republican or Democrat. I get it.

* John P. Avlon at The Wall Street Journal got me "spot on": Independents do not fit in the traditional boxes: They are fiscal conservatives who favor a strong national defense, low taxes, and balanced budgets, but who are, at the same time, socially progressive. They support same-sex civil unions, but not gay marriage; back legal abortion in most—but not all—cases; and are disgusted by Washington’s partisan gridlock. In other words, they’re pragmatists, not ideologues.

Help!

I have my company Christmas party coming up in December (I know it seems early to start thinking about but...) and I'm looking for a dress. If any of you come across anything cute with sleeves please let me know! I need it to be fairly dressy (but not like a full-length prom dress). So far I've found a few but nothing I'm madly in love with...

A lot of good things have happened lately

Like going to the BYU vs UCLA game in Provo
And having it be a BLOW OUT
And hanging with the Low's
And actually having a picture of Aiden smile!

And eating at Trio with my best friends
And having Ro come visit and be the best house guest ever. Even if we didn't technically "bike" the bridge (Or take many pictures.)
And Patrick turned 27 (but all the pictures turned out terrible)
And Patrick's parents came to visit. But doesn't that deserve it's own post? I thought so too.

VS

Patrick's birthday is coming up soon (!) and my dad is coming to visit tomorrow (!!) so we've decided to celebrate Patrick's birthday dinner together tomorrow night(!!!).

Sarah: We're going out for your birthday, where do you want to go?
Patrick: I dunno, no where too fancy
Sarah: But it's your birthday! We have to go somewhere fun!
Patrick: Fine. I will pick somewhere and let you know.

Next day:
Sarah: Have you picked somewhere to go?
Patrick: Not yet. I want somewhere with good chocolate cake.

Only a Larsen would base his entire birthday dinner on dessert. Us Cowans base it on steak.

Lets just say, we've settled on a happy medium. House of Prime Rib here we come!!

What is WRONG with me?!

I found yet another amazing website. yearbookyourself.com

I apologize for those of you that I did not "yearbook". I only had usable pictures of Patrick, Robert, Daddy and myself.

Enjoy

Finally!

It's taken me almost two weeks to get my camera and the cord in the same place.

Two weekends ago, Patrick and I had the time of our life. We got to puppy-sit for one of my friends from work AND go to the Renaissance, I mean "Ren" faire. Talk about a good couple of days!

I'm not too into dogs. Actually, that's not true. I feel the same way about them as about babies. I like them--just not ready for my own. haha. Hence the babysitting, right?

We love Cash. I mean LOOOVVEEE Cash. I've missed him every day since we gave him back to Jonny. Come back to visit please!

He rode the bus with us every morning. How can you resist this face?He hung out in my office every day.He slept with us every night. At first I thought I would hate it. Oh Noooo, I loved it.We also ventured into a strange land known to the participants as the "Ren" faire. I'd been once or twice as a kid and had great memories. When I saw the ad on the side of a bus, I demanded we go. Needless to say, it did not disappoint. Well worth the $18 admission fee. We'll definitely be back (in like 5 years). Also, I could gain 60 pounds and still be sexy according to these folks. I like the way they think. (But not the way the women umm "show off" the extra weight on top, if you get my drift)

We've been having a really good summer. And just think, for SF, it's just begun!

Sorry to rub it in...

I couldn't help myself. We leave tonight!

Happy Labor Day Weekend!
